At this point in the Song of Songs, the woman declares her desire for her husband, and she declares his desire for her. She is ready to leave with him into the fields and vineyards of love and life. They have reunited in the garden, and their love will bear the fruit of intimacy.
The last several posts have been exploring the unit that extends from 5:2–8:4, which is the longest unit in the Song. Today’s post will bring that unit to a close as we reflect on 7:9–8:4.
