Here at the end of February, winter abides. But not for much longer. Spring will arrive sometime in March. The seasons will shift, and winter will be past.
In Solomon’s Song of Songs, the seasons of winter and spring denote the transition to the time for covenant love. The section of 2:8–15 looks backward to this seasonal change in the couple’s relationship. We read of the woman’s anticipation (2:8–9) and the man’s invitation (2:10–15).
