The union of the couple in Solomon’s Song is depicted in ways that bring to mind the promised land and the Garden of Eden. The sacredness of their covenant is associated with sacred space.
Sometimes a passage in the Song is in a pre-marriage context, while at other times a passage is in the context of the marriage covenant. The structure of the Song features the wedding and wedding night at the center (3:6–5:1).
