Throughout the centuries of the Church, theologians have spoken about how God has revealed himself to his creatures. The two big categories are General (or Natural) Revelation and Special Revelation, sometimes called the Book of Nature and the Book of Scripture.

As Christians, we believe that Genesis through Revelation is God’s disclosure of himself, and particularly of his redemptive plan through Christ his Son. Yet the Book of Nature has truth to teach about the world God has made and the God who made it. We would be wise to acquaint ourselves with the wonder and wisdom discernible in Natural Revelation.

A subset of Natural Revelation is something called “Natural Law.” This article is the first in a series that will address “Natural Law,” and I aim to persuade you of what it is, why it’s true, how it fits with biblical revelation, and why it matters for your life as a Christian and as someone living in a culture filled with unbelievers.
