So many of David’s psalms involve descriptions of the enemies who have come against him, who have plotted together and sought his destruction. Yet David perseveres and calls out to the Lord, though the overwhelming presence of the enemies seems palpable in David’s psalms.
What’s even worse is that sometimes David summarizes things they say and do. The wicked aren’t always silent. They speak with mockery, they heap scorn, they hurl insults, they scoff with an arrogant and self-assured posture.
One example of the wicked speaking to David is found in Psalm 71:10–11. And there’s a really important lesson to learn from those words.
