“Better Than a Lamb or Scarlet Cord”
A Good Friday Poem
April 7, 2023
Hear the sound of pounding nails
pierce the flesh of God the Son,
hear the gasps and all the wails
of those who thought He was the One.
Lifted up was He to die
there upon Golgotha’s tree,
suff’ring King exalted high,
for the watching world to see.
On the middle cross that day,
the Servant of the Lord
rescued sinners better than
a lamb or scarlet cord.
All our sins were laid upon
the blessed Savior’s head,
for none but Him could ransom us
and rise up from the dead.
